Installing iTunes 10.2.0 on Ubuntu 12.10 via Playonlinux 4.1.9
Playonlinux is a front end software for installing windows softwares on Linux based operating system.
- First download the playonlinux app and the wine packages which is available on Ubuntu software Center
- Download the iTunes 10.2.0 from following link. Why10.2.0, this versions 32bit works for me without any problems. I tried 11 and 10.6 versions but failed. http://download-euro.oldapps.com/iTunes/iTunesSetup102.exe
- After installing the playonlinux and wine packages click on the install button in playonlinux main window
4.Select "install a program in new virtual machine" from the next window
5.Give any name you want to your virtual drive i named it "iTunes10.2"
6.Select "32bit windows Installation" It is necessary to select right bit version of your .exe file
7.Then Browse and give the path of your "iTunes10.2.0.exe" file and next
8.Now It is coming to the installation part of the iTunes and the follow the normal installation process as you do in windows
9. Now you are almost done. Be careful to not to close to itunes window until the shortcuts are created
10.Minimize iTunes window and select the 'configure' icon in the playonlinux window
11.Select your Virtual drive from the left side of the configuration window and select the "Select the new shortcut from this virtual drive.
12.Browse and select the select the iTunes.exe.
13.Select "i don't want another shortcut" and next.
14.Close everything and click on the shortcut you created. Now you have iTunes on Ubuntu...
P.S. there are some errors also. Don't expect the every features of the itunes and its performances as it is.
